One of the things that I am frequently asked about, is a
source for ribs that are suitable for double rifles. That is, ribs that
are wide enough for the smaller tapers found on double rifle barrels and the wider
gaps between those barrels. Until now, there has been nothing available
unless one built the ribs themselves.
Ellis Brown Custom Shop
is now offering steel rib blanks that are 5/8" wide,
22" long and .065" thick. This length is suitable for most double
rifles and will fit between the 1/4-rib and the front sight on the top,
and between the sling mount and the muzzles of the barrels on the
bottom, with enough material left to fit between the sling mount and the forend hanger.
They are sold in PAIRS .
These are RIB BLANKS, meaning that they are
intended to be tapered (if necessary) and fit by you, to your individual
set of barrels. Once tapered, then the edges can be "draw filed"
on the underside edges to apply the bevel that contacts the barrels. |
